Iridium Extreme® PTT (Push-to-Talk) makes the power of fast, simple, and secure group communication available on the toughest, most feature-rich satellite phone on the market. Enhanced with an expanded loudspeaker, reinforced PTT button, and a field-replaceable high-capacity battery, it takes reliable, global communications to the next level. The Iridium Extreme® PTT device can be easily carried in the field, used with existing headsets, or mounted in vehicles or buildings.

Unlike previous systems that are limited to use in vehicles or handheld applications, the Iridium Extreme® PTT is truly flexible to support every communication environment. Versatile accessories, including shoulder-mounted carrying cases, docking stations, and external antennas (sold separately), ensure critical communications can be maintained in any situation – on foot, in-vehicle, or in-building.

PTT Mode Features

In PTT mode, you have access to unparalleled situation awareness and control features users will expect with added capabilities including:

  • Fastest satellite-based PTT: <2 seconds to first initiate a talkgroup, <500 milliseconds once initiated
  • Low latency, <1 second audio delay front end
  • "PTT" service status displayed on LCD
  • Can be provisioned for up to 15 talkgroups including 1 priority talkgroup
  • Two PTT operating modes:
    • Home mode – looks for activity on a specific talkgroup and participates in any sessions
    • Scan mode – scans for activity on provisioned talkgroups and plays a few seconds of audio
  • Displays speaker’s device ID, distance and bearing
  • Over-the-air programming. Device auto-updates every 4 hours by default, or users can initiate on demand
